PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - It’s being called a mini-retreat, but the warriors taking part in this weekend’s getaway say there’s nothing small about the way Bay County has welcomed them. The Warrior Beach Retreat is in full swing.

Laughter could be heard all throughout Triple J Steaks and Seafood Friday night, as the Warrior Beach Retreat group dined away their second night.

The group tells us this retreat is a way to spend quality time together in a different setting.

For Tammy and Jason Taylor, they said it’s their first outing since COVID started. Tammy said all being vets, they speak a common language; a language Jason said connects a group of strangers in a different way.

“This small community of veterans, we can speak the same language, we’re together and we have been through it. so it’s an automatic common ground in a family-like atmosphere,” said Tammy.

Jason said depending on where they travel in the future, they plan to meet up with their new brothers and sisters.

For Debbie and Craig Prine, it’s a lot of fellowships and a lot of fun. Craig said this retreat is about giving the spouses the attention they deserve after coming home from the stresses of deployment.

“To me, this isn’t about us soldiers, it’s not about us that served. It’s honestly what I’m getting out of it is the spouses are the ones that actually have picked up all the pieces,” said Craig.

Some activities they’ve taken part in are deep sea fishing, a spa day and as they say, put the “eat” in retreat. This group all agreed it’s something they plan to do again.
