Horne, Bleday enjoy good minor league season debuts Wednesday

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -Blountstown alum Bryson Horne and Mosley alum JJ Bleday are both off to pretty good starts to their respective minor league seasons.

Both playing their season openers Wednesday night. Horne, playing for the Atlanta Braves Single-A affiliate, the Augusta GreenJackets, began his season in a home game against Columbia, and though he did strike out three times batting in the 6 spot in the lineup, he also delivered two runs with a single in the bottom of the third. That helping Augusta open the season with an 8-1 win.

Bleday, the Marlins first round pick in the 2019 draft, is starting this minor league season with the Marlins Double-A affiliate, the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. His team, after seeing it’s scheduled Tuesday opener against the Pearl, Mississippi Braves rained out, opened with a 2-1 win at Pearl Wednesday. Bleday helping the cause with an RBI single to center in his first Southern League at bat. He then stroked a sharp single to right in his second plate appearance. Bleday ending the night 2-3 with a walk and an RBI.

Both Horne and Bleday will be back in action Thursday.
