Mosley alum up for national award as best collegiate SS
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -Mosley grad and current Mercer University shortstop RJ Yeager is coming off quite a junior season. And it’s safe to say a lot of folks are taking notice of that. Yeager is one of six finalists for the Brooks Wallace Award, which goes to the top shortstop in all of Division One college ball. Yeager, flashing the leather all season long in helping the Bears rack up a 35-22 record. His fielding percentage .969, just 7 errors in 224 chances, and one great play after another. At the plate, just as much a force for his team. A batting average of .308 with 13 home runs and 50 runs batted in, all that in just 57 games. And talk about your ironmen! RJ has started every game for Mercer since he first arrived on campus three seasons ago, that’s 197 games. The Wallace Award will be doled out in a couple of weeks!
