Roots stay zen between matches
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -The Roots had their fifth match Thursday night, a tough 1-0 loss to New Orleans.
They will follow that up with a match on the road Saturday night over in Gulfport, Mississippi, so two 90 minutes in the span of three nights, a tall order on one’s body, no doubt about it.
One way the Roots deal with that, coming off the Thursday night defeat, instead of hitting the field for a workout, they do yoga!
Team trainer Brian Davison leading the squad in a yoga session, a voluntary thing, with the players stretching and getting into the Zen-zone, you might say for about 60 minutes.
“Just to loosen up and prepare for tomorrow. Recovery, recovery, it’s important. When you play soccer you have to get up for it, so you’re high, you’re up, you’re competing at the highest level that you possibly can. You need to come back down so you can get back up again, so that’s ultimately what we’re trying to do here tonight.”
The Roots are a mix of local players, players from beyond Northwest Florida, and even some international players.
