BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The Boys and Girls Clubs of Bay County are keeping kids busy through its summer camp programs. For this week’s Summertime Learning, we have all the details on what this organization has to offer.

School is out and summer is here!

After the COVID-19 pandemic canceled many camps last year, the Boys and Girls Club is welcoming campers once again.

“This summer, things are looking up,” said Hank Hill, the CEO of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Bay County. “We are extremely excited to get the kiddos back into a somewhat regular routine.”

The excitement is felt among the campers too, and they aren’t dodging any fun while at the Boys and Girls Clubs.

“I’m real excited to do new things this summer like dodge ball, kickball, a bunch of different things,” said club member Mace Grant. “It’s really fun here.”

The organization offers programs for all ages like Learners to Earners, which is a workforce readiness program for teens. It also offers swim lessons for all ages.

“We’ve got a lot of things for our kids to participate in, keep them active, and keep them thinking about school next year,” said Hill.

These programs wouldn’t be possible without the staff.

“Mr. Keith, he came not too long ago, he’s one of my favorites,” said Grant. “He teaches you not just about sports but about life and all that.”

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Bay County summer camps are full, but they have started a waitlist kids can still get on.
