PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -The Florida Roots fell to Southern States Soccer club, a team out of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and the number two team in the Gulf Coast conference, 1-0 on Thursday night.

The Roots are still looking for their first win in their first season, but owner, Jonah Hammond, knows the drive is there.

“I mean we want to win,” said Hammond Wednesday night ahead of the game. “The boys want to win. They’re doing everything they can. It just seems like it comes down to one or two mistakes a game. It’s not like anyone is just passing around us and we shouldn’t be on the field. I think that we should be on the field with everybody. Here towards the end of the season, we’ve picked up a few injuries. It’s going to be even tougher going forward, so we are just going to go out there and have fun, and do our thing.”

Up next for the Roots, they will host Pensacola at Tommy Oliver Stadium at 7 p.m.
