Bay Point Golf Club gears up for first annual Panama City Beach Golf Championship
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -Bay point golf club is gearing up for the first annual Panama City Beach Golf Championship, an amateur stroke play tournament open to all ages and genders.
The Sherman invitational, over at Panama Country Club, that’s been running for over 90 years, is the only other amateur stroke play tournament in the area.
This Panama City Beach championship will have five different flights, a championship flight with gross scoring only, a first flight, with gross and net scoring, a senior and super senior flight, with gross and net scoring, and a women’s championship with gross and net scoring as well. And the $250 entry fee goes towards more than just a few rounds of golf.
“One of the cool things about this event is that a portion of the proceeds are also going to benefit the folds of honor foundation, which we’ve done a lot here for Folds of Honor foundation,” said Nicklaus Course manager, Ryan Mulvey. “That’s just a great organization that provides scholarships for family members of military members that were either killed in action or wounded while serving our country, so we are kind of wrapping a lot of stuff into one event, but we are just really excited to bring it here to Panama City Beach and Bay Point Golf Club.”
The tournament will take place over the last weekend in July.
“The tournament is going to take place from July 30th to August 1st. July 30th is going to be an optional practice round, but we will have a players reception here from 5:30 to 8 p.m. behind the clubhouse,” said Mulvey. “We are going to have food music, drinks, all that stuff, which is going to be included in your entry fee, and then Saturday, July 31st and August 1st, Sunday, is going to be the two round of golf for the stroke play tournament.”
Registration is already open, and you can sign up right here. https://www.baypointgolfclub.com/golf/ecom_v2/ecom.php?cat=14893
