Local students bang out some tunes in McKenzie Park
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The sound of young local musicians could be heard throughout downtown Panama City Saturday, as the Many Mini Musicians hosted their fourth annual Hello Summer concert.
“This is actually a benefit event for Many Mini Musicians, a local, student-led nonprofit that aims to fund fine arts in public schools and create opportunities for students to experience the arts,” Ruby Tilghman, founder of Many Mini Musicians, said.
Tilghman said the concert is their main fundraiser of the year.
“As a student and a musician I understand just how important fine arts education is in schools and when I was 12 years old I started many mini musicians to help bridge the funding gap in those programs,” Tilghman said.
Singer Olivia Nagy said she enjoys the opportunity to perform.
“I’m going to be singing some songs, I’m going to sing an original song that I wrote and some covers and it’s about 20 minutes worth of music,” said Nagy.
Nagy adds that this event is important to support music in schools.
“I’ve been doing this since the first year in 2018 and I’m just a really big supporter of the arts and I really think since I’m a student and all of my friends are also in school it’s really important that they get everything that they need.”
Spreading their love of music to the entire community.
