PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 231 Sunday afternoon that left a Youngstown woman dead and two people from Georgia injured.

Investigators said a silver Toyota Corolla was traveling westbound on North Bear Creek Drive, approaching the intersection of 231. A black BMW was traveling northbound on the outside lane of 231 when the driver of the Toyota was attempting to cross northbound traffic to turn left. This caused the BMW to collide into the left side of the Toyota. Investigators said the 79-year-old female driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver and passenger of the BMW both sustained minor injuries. An investigation is still ongoing and both lanes have since been re-opened.
