BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The largest oncology service in the Florida Panhandle is expanding its services to Bay County.

Ascension Sacred Heart held a ribbon-cutting ceremony earlier on Monday for the grand opening of its new cancer center in Lynn Haven. This center will allow for the treatment of various cancers such as lung, breast, prostate, colon, brain, ovary, and blood.

”This is actually a wonderful day it represents a culmination of about eight months of works with a lot of dedicated people to open up this medical oncology clinic here in Panama City. It’s an important day to the clinic but it’s the first step on a journey,” said Henry Stovall, Ascension Sacred Heart regional president.

”I think we can bring really up-to-date treatment to this area. They already have a lot of great people here already, but I think we can also bring something to this area as well, said Dr. David Mann, Ascension Sacred Heart medical oncologist.

Ascension Sacred Heart officials say the facility is now open to patients and they plan to add more physicians to their staff in the coming months.
