BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Buying a home is the American dream. but for those looking to buy their first house, it can be intimidating.

One local organization held a seminar earlier on Monday to provide some tips and information on landing that first home.

This was one of many seminars and workshops the Central Panhandle Association of Realtors Leadership Academy plans to hold over the next few months.

Several realtors, bankers, insurance agents, and inspectors attended the event providing insight into how they each play a role in helping someone buy a home.

“Literally every home has an issue, but a lot of those things are small and at the end of the day a lot of them can be overcome. It’s just kinda knowing what’s the bigger thing in each home that might hold you back. Is there a roof problem, a termite problem or are we talking about small window issues?” said Cory Brookins with Five Star Inspections.

Monday night’s seminar provided guidance on how to buy a home and the proper steps to take to do it.

”I’ve got more than enough information to get a good start on it. There weren’t too many questions I had that I didn’t have an answer to before I even asked. So I was very pleased with the information I got,” said Michael Jensen, a first-time homebuyer.

Each event is free. They’ll take place in several locations throughout Bay County and surrounding areas.
