PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - All eyes are on the tropics and the possibility of a system in the Gulf impacting our area this weekend. As it is now the system is forecast to be a tropical depression or storm as it makes landfall near the Louisiana coast Friday night/Saturday morning. We will be on the eastern side of the storm so we can expect some heavy rain and large surf. Right now rain totals will range from 2-5″ over our area.

For tonight it will be warm and quiet w/lows in the 70s. Friday will be the transition day w/highs in the 80s and scattered storms developing as tropical moisture surges north from the Gulf. The highest rain chances will be Saturday and lasting into Sunday. After that we should see a decrease in rain chances next week.
