PORT ST. JOE, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A Gulf County organization is hosting some awesome events this week that is all about turtles. NewsChannel 7′s Sam Martello was live from the Forgotten Coast Sea Turtle Center Tuesday with the details.

Florida’s Forgotten Coast hosts many varieties of sea life, including adult and juvenile sea turtles. To celebrate and raise awareness of the importance of these animals, the Florida Coastal Conservancy and Forgotten Coast Sea Turtle Center invite the public to join them for their 1st Annual Lights Out Blow Out Fundraiser and the 5th Annual Forgotten Coast Sea Turtle Festival.

The 1st Annual Lights Out Blow Out Fundraiser will take place Thursday, June 24 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Haughty Heron in Port St. Joe. Organizers say it will include drinks, hors d’oeuvres, live music, and a silent auction.

The 5th Annual Forgotten Coast Sea Turtle Festival will then take place Sunday, June 27 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Village Drive and George Core Park in Port St. Joe. Organizers say the festival will include music with DJ Gina, Gulf Specimen Sea Mobile with touch tanks, food trucks, a sidewalk chalk art contest for all ages, turtle talks, educational displays, arts and crafts vendors, and activities for kids. The festival is free to attendees and will take place rain or shine.
