Residents want sidewalks in one South Walton neighborhood

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Efforts to make one neighborhood in South Walton safer are underway.
Some Peach Creek subdivision residents are asking county commissioners for sidewalks.
They said this will make their neighborhood safer for kids.
Neighbors said on Old Ferry Road, next to Highway 98, they see a lot of construction trucks going down the road.
Peach Creek resident Kevin Boyle said the neighbors would like to see a solution before it’s too late.
“We see a host of construction trucks from the concrete plant... I have a one-year-old and a five-year-old and both of them terrify me and they’re constantly in front of my house and it’s hard to keep track of them with those trucks there and we do the best we can, and all we’re asking, and (Monica Douglas) is asking, is that we get some sort of safety with the sidewalks,” Boyle said.
Walton County commissioners directed neighborhood representatives to meet with the county’s traffic engineer to start the design phase.
But, officials also say the project is not yet a top priority for the county.
