PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Bay District Schools and Chartwells are making sure every student is continuing to get fed with a summer meal program.

The service is free and offered to any school-aged student. Meals can be picked up at the five Bay Base elementary school sites- Cedar Grove, Lynn Haven, Patronis, Deer Point and Hutchison Beach.

They are served Monday through Friday between 11:30 a.m. and noon.

And on Fridays, “weekend bags” are offered as well, so students are still fed on a daily basis.

“Sometimes this is the only meals some of these kids get and so with the weekend bags that are available at the Bay Base locations we can also ensure that they get food over the weekends too. This community has been impacted a lot and so we just want to make sure kids have full bellies,” Community Engagement Specialist Stephanie Werchan said.

Students must be present to receive a meal.

The summer meal program will end on August 10th, the first day of school in Bay County.
