PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Good Wednesday morning everyone!

It’s an active start on satellite and radar this morning with several scattered showers developing out of the Gulf and moving onto the coast. Once again we’ll need to rain gear up for today. However, we should manage to see more off periods than on periods compared to yesterday. And in those off periods a bit more sunshine should peek through than compared to yesterday as well. That will lead toward hot temperatures developing into the afternoon outside of showers and thunderstorms.

We’ll want to dress comfortably for the steamy start this morning and the hot day ahead. Highs today under a mix of sun, clouds, and storms reach the upper 80s. But it will still feel like the upper 90s due to the humidity.

Not much has changed with our atmospheric setup in the Southeast today from days prior. The stalled out front in the Southeast leads toward another unsettled day ahead. Lift from the front plus our very warm and humid environment is a perfect recipe for periodic showers and thunderstorms to develop throughout the day, from morning into the afternoon, quieter by the evening. They’ll be widely scattered and across the Panhandle today.

By tonight the front starts to weaken. However, we’ll still have enough warmth and humidity in place to get afternoon hit or miss storms to develop for the rest of the week with a rain chance around 40-50%. Storms will be fewer and further between, as well as, short lived for the late week and weekend. Instead of numerous showers or storms developing you might only see one 30min bout.

Bottom Line...

For today, mostly cloudy skies with scattered storms likely, rain chance around 70-80%. Highs today top out in the upper 80s. Your 7 Day Forecast has rain chances backing down a bit toward the end of the work week and much more drier times ahead for the weekend with only a few stray showers around and more sunshine.
