Ascension Sacred Heart Bay opens new pediatrics facility
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Saturday, Ascension Sacred Heart Bay hosted a kid’s health fair. It was a fun-filled event with face painting and fire trucks, while also showing parents what our community has to offer for kids. One resource was the building the event was held at, the new pediatrics facility in Panama City.
It seems an apple a day doesn’t always keep the doctor away. Seven-year-old Jenny Clair Brock said sometimes her ears or stomach hurts, and she counts on her doctor to make her feel better.
But even though your child’s pediatrician makes them feel better most of the time, there are some things only a specialist can fix. It’s a resource our community hasn’t had in years.
“There’s actually nothing like this within the community. A lot of specialties went away with Michael so we’re trying to bring pediatrics as our specialty back into the community,” Ascension Medical Group Sacred Heart Bay Pediatrics M.D. Jacqueline Garavito said.
Studer Family Children’s Hospital in Pensacola is the only children’s hospital in Northwest Florida. It has 30 pediatric specialties. Now, it’s expanding to Ascension Sacred Heart Bay Pediatrics.
“We are within one integrated system so I can communicate with them back and forth, making sure we get everything together for our patient’s needs,” Dr. Garavito said.
Parents said they’re excited about the new facility.
“It’s super convenient to the house actually. And everyone is super nice and super helpful so for sure we will probably come here in the future,” Bay County resident Mariah Stallings said.
Ascension Sacred Heart Bay Pediatrics is located just across the street from Ascension Sacred Heart Bay Hospital. The facility is open and accepting new patients.
