WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Monster Houses, a very scary thing for Some Walton County residents.

These houses are usually single-family vacation rentals that have anywhere from 15 to 30 people staying in them at a time.

This issue has been going on for some time and has caused a host of other problems. At the Walton County Commissioner meeting Tuesday morning, some steps were made to find a solution that they can enforce.

“And it is not getting any better, so now we are looking for a solution because this impacts the quality of life for our residents, it impacts the quality of experience for our visitors. This is something that is of paramount importance to the South Walton citizens,” Commissioner Danny Glidewell said.

There have been a lot of complaints from citizens that these houses are causing issues from noise, trash, and feeding into the never-ending parking issues in South Walton.

The parking violations have gotten so bad, the county has approved to hire two new parking specialists.

“We are going to hire two people to start with, once we see the need we will hire more if we have to, but two people to specifically address parking, and to go out there and enforce the law,” Glidewell said.

Tourists Development Council dollars will be used to hire the specialists.
