PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Wednesday marked the last day of the 55-day recreational red snapper season in the Gulf state and federal waters.

For hire operations that do not have a federal reef permit could also participate in the season but only in Gulf state waters.

One local fisherman says he was pretty satisfied with how this season turned out.

”It was probably about the same as the past year. We got a few more days which was pretty nice. But we did have some days where we had some bad weather and stuff. So we kinda had to work around that, but other than that, I mean, for the most part, I would say we had a pretty good season,” Garrison Rosie, captain of the Reel Rosie Inshore Charters said.

Captain Rosie adds the season will remain open until August 2nd for federally permitted charter boats
