North Florida Motorplex preps for another weekend of racing
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -The North Florida Motorplex is gearing up for another weekend filled with racing.
That track is in the final stages of a 7 figure renovation, and after a long layoff, the racing resumed last weekend.
The track is an eighth of a mile, which allows for a variety of racing, which includes from the Nitrous Oxide cars with professional drivers, all the way down to local racers who are modifying their cars themselves. This weekend, if you go up there, you will see some the former category, and so called Jet Cars, so cars that are really fast and really loud.
“We have the bracket series,” said the owner of the North Florida Motorplex, Kevin McDaniel. “Monster energy is sponsoring a sixty-thousand bracket race for us. So anybody that wants to bracket race, in the area, come on out and join. You can get your mom’s station wagon, steal it out of the garage, come on down and we’ve got a class for you.”
The racing is this Friday and Saturday. Friday it’s tuning and testing and the start of that Monster Championship Bracket Series. Then, Saturday the gates open at 7:30 in the morning, with Pro Mod qualifying set for noon and elimination racing starting at 6. The Jet Cars exhibition will follow that.
