WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Two Freeport High students were taken into custody on Thursday after a gun was found in a parked car on school property.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office said they were notified about a social media post showing a Freeport High School student in possession of a firearm in the parking lot of the school.

The school district said on Facebook that the student was found and questioned by the administration and the WCSO.

School district officials said the student was cooperative with authorities and the firearm was found inside a locked car in the parking lot. The gun was reportedly never inside the school building.

The school district said there was no threat toward the school or students.

As a result of the incident, the school district stated two students were taken into custody and arrested.
