A mother and her 2 daughters were stabbed during a home invasion, police say

MESA, Ariz. (KPHO/Gray News) — A woman and her two daughters are in an Arizona hospital after they were stabbed by a man who broke into their apartment.

Police in Mesa responded to the reported stabbing call around 4:40 a.m. at an apartment complex.

Once there, responding officers found a man accused of breaking into an apartment unit, then stabbed the mother and her 16-year-old and 18-year-old daughters.

Police said the three family members were asleep in the apartment when the 16-year-old was attacked first. She was able to escape to a friend’s home about a mile away and call for help.

Police said the man then attacked and stabbed the mother and the 18-year-old before he ran from the scene.

All three stabbing victims are expected to survive, according to Mesa Police Department.

They said it is not clear how the suspect got access to the apartment.

Police said no suspect has been found yet, and they have not provided any suspect information.
