Updates complete on Lynn Haven’s Monument Park
LYNN HAVEN, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -Upgrades to Lynn Haven’s Monument Park, which features a statue of a Union Soldier facing North, are now completed.
Park updates include new landscaping, walking paths, visitor seating areas, and improved disability access.
According to the city’s CRA director, Ben Janke, the monument represents the city’s history.
He says Lynn Haven was founded as a retirement community for Union Soldiers, and the park commemorates that.
“Ultimately, it adds value to our community. We want to provide safe places, public places, to our residents and our visitors in Lynn Haven, ” said Jankey, “This is just one example to create an inviting atmosphere in Lynn Haven as a part of the park design here that we are seeing here today.”
According to the City’s website, the park is unique because the monument is the only statue south of the Mason-Dixon line honoring Union soldiers.
