PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Here in Bay County, one Mosley High School senior is proving strength isn’t just built in the weight room, it’s built through community and faith.

And after taking home a county title for the second year in a row, Kinzley Eave’s journey is far from over.

That’s what makes this story is 850 good news.

In the Mosley high weight room, you’ll find Kinzley Eaves-- doing something she never planned on loving.

“I first started weightlifting my freshman year at Mosley,” said Kinzley.

She followed some friends into the gym and found herself right at home.

“I fell in love with it instantly,” said Kinzley.

What kept her coming back wasn’t just the weights.

“It’s an adrenaline rush doing the lifts and being able to compete with yourself and prove yourself wrong if you’re thinking you’re not strong enough to do something,” said Kinzley.

That first year, she made it to regionals as a freshman, and she’s been there every year since.

And just like any good lift-- the foundation matters.

“My dad just always encourages me and reaffirms me, showing me and telling me how proud he is every day,” said Kinzley.

Her family was right there with her-- every step, and every rep-- of the way.

“I said, ‘Remember what you’re doing. You’ve got it in practice. You have the muscle memory. And you’re God’s child you’ve got the power. And blessed and highly favored-- let’s perform,” said Kinzley’s dad, Chris Eaves.

For Kinzley-- that faith is her strength.

“I’m just performing for Him and not just for myself. I’m performing for His glory,” said Kinzley.

This year, Kinzley took home the Bay County championship belt for the second time.

“I wasn’t expecting to get first place. There’s a lot of very strong girls,” said Kinzley.

“Her determination and focus are unbelievable,” said Kinzley’s family member, Emily Swan.

“I am very proud of Kinzley, not just in the weight room, but in the classroom and in the hallways and community,” said Mosley High School principal, Brian Bullock.

And as she continues to lift, she’s learning the lesson that started it all.

“You can’t really set a limit for yourself. There’s really no limit. So, if you just keep striving for the best and keep wanting to do better each and every day, it’ll happen,” said Kinzely.

Because in this gym, and in this journey, strength built on faith and family is built to last.
