Freeport football coach and athletic director steps down
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Freeport head football coach and athletic director Shaun Arntz announced Friday that he is stepping down from both positions.
A Freeport alum, Arntz has been the head football coach and athletic director the last nine years. His overall record, 41-53, including a 5-5 mark last season.
The coach telling us Friday afternoon this decision is his alone and he made it without his next step being certain. He just felt it was time to move on and he wanted to do it in a way that allows Freeport to move on quickly, as he put it, bring in new energy and new eyes.
He says serving his alma mater has been the highest honor, and his players have been his daily motivation. He’ll miss the relationships and daily interactions with them the most. He wishes the best for the school and the football program, adding “though I won’t be there directly, I’ll always be a Bulldog and wish Freeport nothing but success.” A class act all the way around.
