Salvation Army opens registration for free Camp Keystone summer program
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The Salvation Army is signing kids up for Camp Keystone, a free week-long camp experience designed to give children a safe place to learn and make memories.
This summer, local students ages six through twelve can head to Starke, Florida a free week of camp. Kids will stay in air-conditioned cabins and take part in activities like swimming, arts and crafts, survival skills, and more.
Organizers say for many children, camp offers something even more valuable, a chance to simply be a kid.
“Kids when they go there, they have the chance to be kids again. We know that many kids go through difficult situations at home in their daily life at home so when they go to camp keystone, not only do they learn but they get to be kids and do kid things,” said Niurka Peña, captain at the Panama City Corps of the Salvation Army.
Camp Keystone runs June 8 -June 13. Community members can also help sponsor a camper for two hundred fifty dollars. Organizers say every sponsorship helps send another child to camp at no cost to their family.
Registration is open now through May 29th online at AdminiCamp
