UPDATE: One dead after Wednesday night’s Springfield shooting

Police are working to identify those involved and determine a motive.

SPRINGFIELD, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A 17-year-old is dead after the shooting in Springfield on Wednesday evening.

According to Law enforcement, on April 29, 2026, Springfield police responded to a shooting in the 5100 block of E. 11th Street. Officers found two gunshot victims, both taken to a nearby hospital. A 17-year-old male later died in the hospital; a 20-year-old male was treated and released.

Police are working to identify those involved and determine a motive. Investigators believe the shooting was targeted, not random.

“We know there are individuals in the community who have information about this incident,” Chief Barry Roberts said. “I urge them to come forward. Silence only allows this cycle of violence to continue.”
