The former St. John Paul II football standout is accused of coordinating with his codefendants to lure three men to an apartment where they were held at gunpoint, according to the Hillsborough County State Attorney. The State claims Arnold believed the men stole over $200,000 of his property during a stay at his Airbnb.

“No one has the right to take the law into their own hands. A dispute over missing property does not justify kidnapping, violence, or retaliation. This arrest is the result of months of investigative work and collaboration between the Tampa Police Department and our prosecutors. We will continue to pursue justice for the three victims by holding everyone accountable for their roles in this crime,” said State Attorney Suzy Lopez in a statement released by her office.

The Associated Press obtained a statement from Denise White, CEO of the agency that represents Arnold.

“There is no credible evidence linking Mr. Arnold to these allegations,” White said. “Instead, the government appears to be relying on testimony from multiple convicted felons who have admitted their own involvement and may have substantial incentives to shift blame in an effort to lessen their sentences.”

According to the AP, the Lions said in a statement Wednesday that they were aware of the situation but would not comment at this time.

Arnold made his first court appearance on Thursday. He is being held without bond until a hearing next week that will determine bond.

The 23-year-old was drafted by the Lions 24th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft following three years at Alabama.

According to jail records, Williams was arrested in February and court records show he was denied bond.
