Two injured in house explosion caught on video

CANTON, Ohio (WOIO/Gray News) – Two people were hospitalized after an Ohio home exploded early Thursday morning.

The explosion was first reported shortly before 4 a.m. on Thursday in the town of Canton.

The home was destroyed by the time firefighters got to the scene. The fire had extended to neighboring homes, brought down power lines, and created more hazards for homeowners and firefighters, according to a press release issued about the fire.

Fire crews said they found one person in the street who had been blown by the blast.

That person told firefighters there was a person inside the home at the time of the explosion.

Both people were taken to hospitals for serious burns.

Officials said the cause of the fire was likely a natural gas explosion. The home, which was vacant and for sale, incurred more than $83,000 worth of damage.
