Mom arrested after allegedly crashing car into telephone pole while drunk with child in back seat
DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC/Gray News) - An Iowa woman is facing several charges after authorities say she crashed her car with her child inside while drunk on Monday.
According to court documents, Kayla M. Delay, 36, is facing charges that include child endangerment resulting in bodily injury, having an open container, operating while intoxicated and possessing a controlled substance.

Davenport authorities said Delay was taken into custody after police responded that evening to a reported crash on Rockingham Road involving a vehicle that had collided with a telephone pole.
A witness told police that Delay was seen walking away from the crash with her child.
Once police located Delay, they noted seeing bruising and swelling on the child’s face. Court documents showed the child’s nose was also bleeding.
The child was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Officers at the scene reported that Delay was unsteady while walking and smelled like alcohol when they were speaking to her about what happened. They also said she had slurred speech, bloodshot and watery eyes.
Court documents stated that Delay admitted to driving the vehicle and that her child was in the back seat at the time of the crash.
Police said they found an open container of alcohol in the vehicle and a THC vape pen in her purse.
She refused a field sobriety test and a breathalyzer, court documents stated.
The 36-year-old mother was booked into Scott County Jail on Monday before bonding out before midnight.
