Disaster preparedness sales tax holiday kicks off Friday

Following the second named storm of the year, the 2020 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday kicks off this weekend ahead of Monday's official start of hurricane season. Jordan McCool was live from the Walton County Emergency Management Center with more.

The sales tax holiday will start Friday, May 29th, and continue until Thursday, June 4th.

During the holiday, qualifying items related to disaster preparedness are exempt from sales tax. Some of these items include:

-flashlights

-batteries

-tarps

-radios

-generators

-ratchet straps

- reusable ice (reusable ice packs)

-ground anchor systems

-tie-down kits

-bungee cords

-lanterns

-candles

-bottled water

-canned food

-first aid kits
