2018 World Chef champion competes on Final Table
For the past couple of years, Nick Rickman has made a name for himself in the culinary world.
“We’ve won grand championships in steak, we’ve won in bacon, we’ve won in chicken,” Rickman said.
Most notably, the owner of the Salt Block in Marianna is the 2018 World Chef champion, allowing him to compete in CNBC's Final Table competition. Renowned restaurateur Dick Brennan was a judge.
“He actually said our dish was delicious so that was a, one of the highlight moments of the entire competition,” Rickman said.
The show recently aired. Rickman came in second place.
“We cooked our heart out,” he said.
Back in Marianna, he's doing the same.
“I’m a small town guy and I’ve spent more years of my life right here in Jackson County, so I’m a Jackson County guy, I’m a Marianna guy,” he said.
Rickman says since opening his restaurant, people have traveled as far as New York City, Colorado, Texas, Las Vegas, and other places to sample his dishes.
“To put our little town on the map, is just, it’s an indescribable feeling to be able to showcase that,” he said.
Even with the fame, Rickman says he'll stay rooted in Marianna.
“There’s a lot of incredible assets here locally and Marianna’s worth fighting for,” he said.
Rickman will go on to Dallas to defend his title of World Chef Champion.
