2020 Census kicks off, local officials encourage participation
The 2020 Census kicked off Thursday and officials want to remind the community about the importance of participating.
The census will count "heads and beds" on April 1. Invitations will be mailed to homes across Bay County. Residents can complete their census questionnaire online. The census can also be completed through a toll-free hotline or by mail.
"This means funds coming into the city and county for the next 10 years. Let's not let a two to four hour event that occurred on 10-10-18 define the amount of money we get for the next 10 years," Panama City Mayor Greg Brudnicki said.
If residents have not filled out the census, representatives will go door-to-door to ensure it is complete, towards the end of April.
