MALONE, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - UPDATE: November 15, 2016 (2:30 p.m.)
Florida Highway Patrol has identified the driver of a Jackson County fatal crash that killed three teens on October 30th as 18-year-old Joella Jean Duncan of Bascom, Florida.
The death of three teenagers has a community in mourning. Family and friends gathered in Malone to honor the teens with a candlelight vigil.
"We're a small town so when something like this happens like it doesn't just happen to me or to the family, it happens to the whole community," said Kazarieya Williams. She along with other students from Malone and Sneads gathered to remember three former students 19-year-old Tristan Gosnell, 18-year-old Joella Duncan, and 18-year-old Wyatt Hatcher. The three graduates died Sunday in a car accident.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol the three teenagers died in an accident Sunday after their vehicle went off the road and overturned hitting some tress. Officials do not yet know who was driving.
Members of the senior class joined family members at second base on the Malone School softball field on Tuesday. "We all love each other," said Williams.
With songs, hugs and tears the community came together as one family. Williams went to school with Joella and Wyatt. She says Wyatt made her laugh on several occasions.
"He would always make you laugh like anything he would say would make you laugh," said Williams. "Joella, she first came to our school, I think, in sixth grade and she was really really smart. Like she didn't come to school her senior year. She was early admitted. She was really smart, really beautiful."
Tristan Gosnell graduated from Sneads High School. He was a member of the football team. The principal there described him as a very polite young man.
It's these memories that those who knew them will always remember.
"I just want everybody to keep praying," said Williams.
