The team at Dawson LLC held a tree giveaway at Harvey Dee Mathis Park. Five hundred trees were given away, all within the first thirty minutes of the event.
Trees included live oaks, red maples, river birches, and cypresses.
Dawson's General Manager Mike Gelsleichter said part of the company's mantra is to give back to local communities.
Gelsleichter said "You know, I think at this stage people are feeling challenged trying to get stuff back to normal. It's gonna take a long time but in this case hopefully, this helps them feel like they've done a little piece to get back their lives."
Gelsleichter said he anticipates the group will hold future tree giveaways after Wednesday's successful event.
