JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - During Operation Beach or Bust, hosted by the Department of Homeland Security, 71 traffic stops were made, two aircraft were stopped and searched, 13 K-9 units were deployed, three warrants were served, and two illegal immigrants were detained.

The goal was to stop drugs, weapons, and fugitives from coming into the Panama City Area.

An official from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office said, "During spring break there's a lot of extra criminal activity that takes place. People come down and take advantage of not only the students that are here on spring break but the locals that are here too. We just felt like this was an opportunity to help deter some of that activity."

Additional arrests and seizures were also made throughout Washington and Holmes counties during the operation.
