The primary law in question states that it is illegal to use a watercraft with a motor more powerful than ten horsepower on the creek north of the Highway 388 bridge. The area is a popular kayaking and swimming spot, and the crackdown aims to promote the safety of those enjoying the creek.

"The creek is a recreational area. It causes an issue if you have high horsepower vehicles flying up and down the creek," said Bay County Sheriff's Deputy Larry Grainger. "What we're trying to do is save lives and protect the public."
