92.5 WPAP's Dr. Shane and Tess win Country Music Association award
Some local on-air radio personalities are being recognized not only for playing country hits, but also for helping the community recover from Hurricane Michael.
Dr. Shane and Tess with 92.5 WPAP won the Country Music Association's Broadcast Personality of the Year award.
Their hard work during the crucial time after Hurricane Michael helped the community find important resources and provide some laughter and friendship during a tough time.
Nashville legend Carrie Underwood surprised them over the phone with the news and the two say they were ecstatic!
"I said WPAP, she said says hi is Dr. Shane and Tess there? Yeah! Let me get up off the floor we'll talk to ya! And she said congratulations you've been nominated for the radio personality from the County Music Association, the CMA, and I'll see you at the awards show! And Tess is like I bet you will," said Dr. Shane.
"She said you won! Because we had been notified that we had been nominated and so we didn't know if or when we were gonna win at all. We were just happy to be nominated. And so Carrie called and said yeah you won, and I think I said maybe two words because I was over there hyperventilating the whole time! Thank you, Carrie," said Tess.
The two will head to Nashville to accept their award on November 13.
