The Optimist Club of the Beaches supports these local families by providing them funds to cover those travel-related costs. On Sunday, the organization held its annual Christmas party for families enrolled in their program.
“Our whole focus and well-being are centered on taking care of children who need help,” said Smith. “We care for children with orthopedic issues and those who have suffered from burns. We have specialist hospitals throughout the United States, with 22 locations that treat children from across the country.”
"We've got children here that are all the way from the cub scouts, 5-years-old, 6-years-old, up to the teenage cub scouts, the teenagers from the high school. It is just amazing. I am just speechless, the support that they have come here to help us with."
