Additional coronavirus case confirmed in Calhoun County
The Department of Health in Calhoun County confirmed an additional case of COVID-19, the novel coronavirus. The person ill with the virus is a 26-year-old female who is contact of a confirmed case. This brings Calhoun County’s total COVID-19 cases to 3. The age ranges for the cases in the county are from 26 to 88 years-old and all are residents of Blountstown.
The Florida Department of Health in Calhoun County (DOH-Calhoun) is conducting its contact investigation and working on identifying and notifying individuals who will need to self-monitor for symptoms for a 14-day period. Contact investigations are a critical way for staff epidemiologists to track and prevent the spread of disease. A total of 28 tests have been processed for Calhoun County from private and public labs with 24 negative results. As more positive cases are anticipated, it is imperative that everyone practice social distancing and remain at home other than for essential and necessary activities.
