After Hurricane Michael, Econfina Creek visitors get used to a new normal

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Econfina Creek has long been a staple of outdoor recreation in Bay County, but it has gone through quite a lot since Hurricane Michael roared ashore.

Econfina Creek is not the same as it was before Hurricane Michael. (WJHG/WECP)

While much of the creek has become easier than before for kayakers and canoers to traverse thanks to cleaning efforts from the county, the creek is not the same as it was before.

"It's a new normal," said Debbie Gay, owner of Econfina Creek Canoe Livery. "We're all having to get used to a new thing; the scenery isn't the same, still beautiful but it's an entirely different creek."
