UPDATE 5:22 5/16/17

Colonel Michael Shawn Garrett made his first appearance before a judge on Tuesday.

He is charged with traveling to meet a minor for sex, solicitation of a minor for sex and unlawful use of a two-way communication device.

Bay County Judge Timothy Campbell has set a $22,000 bond for the three charges.

A Panama City Beach Police investigator says it was a combined effort from law enforcement to arrest him.

"It's basically a bunch of agencies combing efforts to seek out individuals preying on our children online and hold them accountable because what they're doing is horrendous and they need to be brought to justice," said Lieutenant J.R. Talamantez.

Garrett is expected to be back in court on June 26th.

Tyndall Air Force Base released the following statement regarding the arrest: "The Air Force sets high standards for our people and we won't tolerate Airman who fall short of those standards. The Air Force is committed to the pursuit of justice. Any speculation at this point without having all of the details is not only unfair to the individuals involved but could affect the outcome of the investigation."
