Alabama man dies after traffic crash on Interstate 10

Officials say the driver was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital where he passed away. (MGN)

SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) Florida Highway Patrol reports a fatal traffic crash occurred on Interstate 10 in Santa Rosa County on Friday at 3:45 p.m.

They say a white Nissan Titan traveling westbound, traveled off the roadway. The driver then overcorrected causing it to travel back into the westbound lanes, before overturning and crossing the median into the eastbound lanes.

According to the press release, "At some point during the crash the Nissan Titan lost a wheel which then struck the front of a White Toyota Camry traveling eastbound."

Officials say the driver was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital where he passed away. The male driver, 55, from Spanish Fort, Alabama, has not been named due to pending next of kin notification.

They also say the driver and the passenger in the Toyota were not injured.
