This week's Golden Apple winner says laughter and little smiles brighten up her classroom.
"It's not like a job you go to and your going home and you're miserable, I love it. It's always an adventure and it's always a good one, even on the rough days they are just so sweet and fun," Alicia Gunter said.
Gunter has been teaching for four years. She became a teacher after having kids, and there are many reasons why she loves her job.
"I love the little things they say that your not suppose to laugh at, but you laugh at or when you see a kid struggling with something for a long time and you finally get it and you see the look in their face and it's just so rewarding," Gunter said.
She went through Bay District Schools herself and now teaches with some of her former teachers.
"Right now I currently teach with my old gym coach, I've worked with my softball coaches before, I've worked with my PE coach," Gunter said.
This Golden Apple winner focuses on positive reinforcement to keep her students engaged. She calls her students, "Gunter's Go Getters," encouraging each one to never give up.
