An elderly woman gets her roof repaired for free

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Hurricane season is quickly approaching, and many people are still waiting on their roofs to be repaired.

Laura Miles had her roof destroyed like so many others after the wake of Hurricane Michael. FEMA gave Miles a small check, and a contractor promised her a new roof. Unfortunately for Miles, they took advantage of her.

With no means to pay for her roof, Collis Roofing and Suncoast stepped in to help get Miles a new roof for free.

"I am so lucky, I can't believe that I am getting a new roof, and I'm very happy that I am and that someone's heart is in the right place," Panama City Beach Resident Laura Miles said.

"When we find somebody that is truly deserving that doesn't have any other resources, we can't turn our back, we have to help, it's just the right thing to do," President of Collis Roofing Wallace Fulton said.

Fulton says they try repair a roof for free at least once a year.
