Arrest made after man was shot in the head with an arrow

Fort Walton Beach police officers responded to a call about a man who was shot in the head with an arrow on Sunday, June 14 at approximately 11:15 p.m.
Officers say when they arrived they immediately rendered aid to the victim, Benny Davis, 57, of Fort Walton Beach. Davis was taken to the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center for a serious head injuries and was later released.
Davis told officers he was riding his bike when a truck pulled beside him and shot him in the head with an arrow.
Officers were able to locate the suspect Mathew Peters, 42, was driving the car. On Tuesday, June 16, a Fort Walton Beach police detective says they saw the suspect vehicle parked at the Sea Breeze Inn.
Officers say a perimeter was established at the hotel and surveillance was conducted until Peters was seen leaving his room armed with a crossbow.
Peters was immediately taken into custody without further incident.
Deputies say he was also in possession of methamphetamine. A search warrant on his hotel room revealed more evidence related to the crime.
Peters was charged with one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, one count of firing a deadly missile into a moving vehicle and possession of methamphetamine.
