UPDATE: Sunday, 7/28/19 at 2:00 p.m.
Bay County officials say there have been two arrests in a homicide case after a body was found Saturday. They say the body was wrapped in a blanket at the base of the Hathaway Bridge near the boat ramp.
The victim has been identified as Mark Thomas Jankiewicz, age 25, from York, PA.
According to the press release, "Foul play was suspected due to multiple puncture wounds in the neck area, and a possible homicide investigation began."
The Bay County Sheriff's Office says they learned the victim had been released from the Bay County Jail on Friday around 5:30 p.m. They determined that Kayla Marie Kostick, 23, and Emilio Sifuenties Jack, 28, had been with Jankiewicz later that same evening. A Be On the Look Out (BOLO) was then issued for both suspects.
Officials say a Panama City Beach Police officer spotted the vehicle Kostick and Sifuenties Jack were believed to be driving and followed them until the BCSO could conduct a traffic stop.
They say upon interviewing Kostick, she revealed that Jankiewicz and Sifuenties Jack got into an altercation, which ended with Jankiewicz being stabbed with two different screwdrivers.
According to Bay County officials, "Worried that law enforcement would find the screwdrivers, Sifuenties Jack threw them into St. Andrews Bay towards the Navy Base."
Deputies tell us both murder weapons were located where Kostick had said they were thrown.
Authorities say when interviewing Sifuenties Jack, he was uncooperative. They also say a motive is unknown, but it's believed alcohol and drugs were involved.
Kayla Marie Kostick is charged with Principal to Premeditated Murder. Emilio Sifuenties Jack is charged with Murder.
