Bay District Schools announced the USDA approved a waiver to provide all students with free breakfast and lunch in the 2020-2021 school year.

"We know that so many of our families are still struggling to recover from the hurricane and job losses associated with the pandemic have only made that worse," said BDS Superintendent Bill Husfelt. "We are so pleased to be able to make this announcement for our families so they know that their children will be taken care of in terms of food at school when we reopen in August."

Bay District Schools has served over 700,000 meals since schools closed in March.

"Our transportation team, ChartwellsK12 staff and others have worked incredibly hard to make this happen for our community and I am so proud of them," Husfelt said. "We know these meals, enough for seven days a week for each child, are really helping our families and we know this is important work in our community at this time."
