Batter up at Frank Brown Park! It looks like baseball will start back up this summer in Panama City Beach.

Thursday, city council members voted to allow club team sports to begin practicing and playing.

Practices can start as early as Saturday. Sports tournaments can begin June 1.

All baseball teams will have to follow social distancing guidelines, and they must reserve fields through the Parks and Recreation Department.

"At this point we would like to have some of these kids get back out into the community when they're out of school, when they don't have day care, and just be able to have a good time," Councilman Geoff McConnell said.

McConnell said baseball is the only sport allowed back as of now.

The aquatic center kiddie pool and open swim activities will remain closed.
