ST. ANDREWS, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Efforts to clean up the Panama City Marina after Hurricane Michael are underway, but now we've learned the St. Andrews Marina will also be getting some extra attention.
At Tuesday morning's commission meeting, officials voted to extend the contract with H.G. Harders and Sons, who have worked on the Panama City Marina.
With this extension, they will have more money and time to clean up at the St. Andrews Marina.
City Commissioner Mike Nichols said cleanup should begin within the next 30 days.
After the marina is cleaned up, commissioners said there's big plans for the city.
"We've been meeting to see how we could better make the marina more walkable or friendly to go out and watch the sunset. So we've talked about some boardwalks, some additional lighting to get you to the water," said Nichols.
Officials are hoping the clean up at St. Andrews Marina will be completed by the end of May. They're also hoping the boat launch by Uncle Ernie's will be ready by June.
